I am proud owner of the Ford Focus 1.8 tdci for me it is the ideal car for my needs, it is reliable city car which for me, anything i need. I am using it for transport between home and university and when i am going to work. The fuel consumption is ok for diesel car.
As anyone I am dreaming about having BMW so i was looking on the internet about prices and i figure out that i would like to have bmw 3, F30 model. As i love diesel engines, i was searching the smallest engine because of the smallest price. And surfing on the internet i found out that BMW F30 diesel version have big problems with chain. It is chain which connects crankshaft and camshaft, the problem becomes around 180k+ km, the problem is that the chain become elongated and it produces some strange sounds. Now the problem is because it can broke and when it happens the whole machine is ruined.

I was talking with the men who is BMW servicer and he said me that when you decide to change the chain, you must to put the whole machine outside because the chain is on the side of the driver not in front of the cat and you don't have room to service it when the machine is in the car..
I don't know what to say, that stuff to happen with the premium brand for me it is really stupid. And the bigger problem is when you are putting the machine outside of the car you must to change the clutch and flywheel it is big cost.
Has anyone have this problem and what is the cost of that work?
I thing i will drive my Focus for next few years ahha
