This afternoon, when I was a bit free at work, I decided to surf the internet and think about what I could write on my blog today. Then I stumbled across a post about the insurgents and the killings that took place almost a week ago in Kwara State, in a village in Kwara, to be precise.

It was so ruthless and horrifying that many lives were lost as a result of the bandit attack. Unfortunately, this is not the first time such an attack has been carried out in that community. A previous incident occurred when bandits kidnapped and abducted people during a church program, and the entire event was captured on live video. It was both disturbing and painful to witness.
What is even more troubling is that government agencies and media houses could not fully capture what truly happened there. We were told that about 75 people were killed, only for us to later discover that more than 300 people lost their lives, and the count may still be rising.
For how long will this continue?
The people who are meant to protect us seem to have abandoned us to the mercy of God. Our leaders keep folding their hands while insurgency continues to rise daily.
We now live in a world where war is treated as peace, and killing is almost normalised. We live in a world where some people claim to fight for their God and kill in His name. It is deeply unsettling. So many atrocities are being committed today that when one hears of them, it becomes difficult to believe they are real.
What is our world turning into?
Despite having religions that preach against crime, violence, and the dangers of killing, whether for ritual purposes or other social vices, these acts persist.
If you look at the world today, there seems to be no place entirely free from crime, nepotism, corruption, and other inhumane acts against humanity.
