So I did it again. Postponed the post but I am still gonna see this through.

Today I just want to be grateful like really grateful for a very important part of my life. One that is responsible for most of how I have turned out so far.

My family.

I always hated being the first child, it seemed like a terrible position God invented for scape goats. I had to be very responsible for much very early, I was the one who got whooped when the house was untidy or when we kids collectively did something and mine always had that dreaded addition "Don't you know you are the first child ".

So it was only natural that I blamed being first born for many of the beatings I got growing up and also for being an angry child about so much.

Now that I think back, of course I am very grateful for my parents and how tough they were with not just myself but my siblings too. It instilled in us a sense of responsibility and survival instinct.

My parents made us work and work well, you simply cannot be lazy at home, there would always be something to do and if there is nothing, my dear, you better dream up something. My sister would often say that one day we might just be told to wash the roof.

Another major thing I had to learn was being confident and bold. It was a major criteria in the house, you had to express yourself no matter the situation. You just must talk and communicate clearly or the reason you might just be whooped would be for being misunderstood.

Really if I have to talk about family I might just start writing a chapter right here but I do have a lot to be grateful for from my family.

Diligence, integrity, respect; oh lord! I so learnt respect! Even if you had just been crying out your life when you see an older person you have to go all sweet and respectful despite your burning ass and you must smile too. These things have become a part of my life now and I have my parents to thank for it.

They love us so much and all I pray for is that we are able to take care of them even more than them deserve. They made sure they did their very best in every aspect of our lives and I can't but rejoice at how lucky I am to have them as parents.

Of course my family is not just about my parents but my sisters too. Oh my sisters! I love those girls silly. Funny it wasn't always like that but I won't delve into it now. They are my partners in crime, comfort, advisers on everything including when you do not ask for it. Lol. They can tease me for Africa and there is just no dull moment with them.

My family story can't be complete without them, honestly they made my life so beautiful and I am just grateful to have them and yes I believe in the power of women more because of them.

Okay I won't talk about feminism in this post but I will still say having sisters made me realize very much the equality of men and women and the fact that there is nothing special men have or can do that women can't. No I am so not talking about women here.

Anyways, indeed I am grateful and I am not going to hide that because they have made the journey so far worth it.

Okay so there was a bit of misunderstanding that the countdown to my birthday was also for my anthology Phoenix T21. No actually, Phoenix T21 will be completed by the end of this month but not on my birthday, though I think something else is coming up on my birthday too... 😂 😍😍😘😘

Much love till my next post...
