I was intending to write some posts on a bit of the same topic, but never got to it.

• In Poland, where the large bulk of immigrants are staying, there is as far as I've understood zero support from the government, though there is some promise that there will be some money in the end.
• In Norway ... well, I feel there is a complete information vacuum, I have no idea if my guest from Ukraine has gotten a work permit or not, but I think not ... I think she's supposed to wait for months before she can start doing official white work. And in the meanwhile I have no idea what kind of government support she eventually have the right to get. We have filled in some application and sent, but I have no idea how many months it will take to get a reply. And the refugee reception point for people coming to the capital area of Norway is ... horrible.

There is no official policy on free transportation for Ukrainians in Norway as such. In general, refugees doesn't get free transport - but like in Oslo, there is free transport for Ukrainians now, on all transport except the trains. The train company offers one trip for Ukrainians that has just arrived to the country and need transportation to the place they are going to stay at.

The free transport offer won't last forever - and I think it shouldn't - refugees are supposed to integrate and get a job - but it's very difficult when it takes ages before the bureaucracy can produce a simple work permit, and when it's almost impossible to navigate through the job offerings without any knowledge of the English language.
