I have come to believe that it totally depends if that asset is deemed as valuable and has an actual use case. Many tokens/coins have failed even when they were deflationary. But it also depends on the time frame. For now it seems that all ALTs are going to 0 against BTC for example. But perhaps over the next decade we could see a different picture depending on usage etc.
