And while they were still speaking, some of the chief of the synagogue arrived, and they said to them, "Your daughter is dead. Why should you make the Master even more angry?"
And Jesus, having heard these words, said to the chief of the synagogue: Do not fear, you only believe. Gospel of Mark 5: 35-36.
Why are you afraid?
My friends, our trust should not be founded on the "maybe", but on the virtues that have been reached by Jesus on Calvary. On this morning it is possible that you are facing some situation similar to that of this woman: the doubt. But the comforting words of Jesus still have the same value: Do not fear, just believe.
Friend reader and reader, if you are anxious in nature, the current context in which we live today, will not bring solution or fix things.
Every day the newspapers, the television, the information, do not stop informing us about economic crises, accidents, tragedies of all kinds, etc. All this has become a permanent battle that leaves no room to think about the things above. Therefore it is from there that redemption comes.
Thus fear takes space in the hearts of men. He influences his choices and behaviors
If we are really aware of the situation, we realize that fear is surreptitiously installed in hearts ready to embrace, provided it is reactivated. Some examples: fear of unemployment, of our future and of our children, of our security, of diseases and even of death.
Beloved, react quickly and simply say: STOP to negative thoughts.
Fear must keep the place assigned to it, to the exit by God. He must not in any way influence our daily life.
He can derive, as we have already observed, from the needs or tests that we are facing. He can act when those struggles seem insurmountable, and worse: This situation can become contagious and panic takes possession of the few forces that are in us.
But listen well: to face fear, we have on our side two great "weapons" that God has for us:
The Peace of God and faith in God.
Jesus invites us to experience his peace:
"I leave you peace, my peace I give to you: I will not give it to you as the world gives it, do not let your heart be troubled or be afraid." Gospel of John 14:27.
In the Bible and in several passages, He invites us to flee from fear and to have the courage to face it. The Word of God exhorts us to manifest our faith: before the challenges of each day. We have this great example when, "our text today" Jesus spoke to Marta, saying:
"Jesus said to him: Did I not tell you that, if you believe, you will see the glory of God"? Gospel of John 11: 40.
We can be surprised and have to live difficult situations, but God promised to be by our side. He spoke to Israel:
"Do not be afraid, because I am with you: do not be surprised, for I am your God: I make an effort, and I help, and I hold you with the right hand of my justice." Isaiah 41:10
