"However, there is one thing, we must not forget: that for the Lord one day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like a day." 2 Peter 3.8
God's time is not our time. The New Testament makes an interesting difference between the time of God and the time of man. When the man of time says that he used the word corona, which is the human and chronological time. To refer to the time God uses the word kairos with a divine sense of time for the purposes of the Lord.
During these last 365 days do you remember a special day? Maybe a party, his birthday, the birth of a child, the wedding, a baptism or even a difficult situation, but that marked his life and this day will be remembered. There are really unforgettable days for our lives.
Jesus is the Father of Eternity (Isaiah 9: 6), who was present since the creation of the universe and his omniscience reminded us of three days in history that according to him are unforgettable.
How have your days been?
Let's reflect on the three days that Jesus remembered:
1- Elijah Days: Luke 4:25
Certainly the days of Elijah were not easy at all. He lived during the reign of Ahab and his wicked wife Jezebel who persecuted and killed the prophets of the Lord. Elijah himself confronted the prophets of Baal and fled from Jezebel.
However Elijah's time was marked by great miracles throughout the Old Testament, such as multiplication (I Kings 17:16), the supply, rain falling fire from heaven (I Kings 18.36-38 and II Kings 1:12). ), to stop rain and rain back (Kings 17.1 and 18.1), open the river (II Kings 2,8), priests and even the resurrection of the dead (I Kings 17.22,23). We do not know how many days Elias lived, but we know that he did not die, he was transferred in a chariot of fire (II Kings 2:11), he ascended to the living heaven and they appeared to Jesus on the mount of the transfiguration (Matthew 17,3).
As in the days of Elijah were difficult times, but God performed great miracles, God has also performed wonders in our lives and will accomplish great things in this new year.
The days of Elijah were days of miracles.
2- Noah Days: Luke 17:26
The days of Noah were not easy either. The world became perverted in sin and regretted having created man (Genesis 6: 6), but with the birth of Noah there was a hope (Genesis 5:29) that it would be a comfort to the accursed land.
God used Noah to restore the human race and creation. With certainty the days of Noah were a lot of work, why he spent 120 years building the ark.
Noah lived 950 years (Genesis 9:29) which is 346,750 days, but without a doubt the most beautiful one I saw was when the waters came down and a beautiful rainbow was seen as a symbol of God's new covenant with humanity and creation (Genesis 9, 13-16) From this moment, new days began for Noah.
The days of Noah were Covenant days with God!
3 Days Lot: Luke 17:28
The Bible says that Lot was a cousin of Abraham. He was a prosperous man and God fearing. When Lot departed from Abraham, he decided to go to the side of Sodom and Gomorrah because their fields are fertile and Lot's flock had grown too much (Genesis 13.5). But the place that looked like "the garden of the Lord" (Genesis 13:10) became a place of very sin (Genesis 18.20,21). Through the intercession of Abraham, Lot was saved Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 18, 23-33). Lot lived very important days when he was visited by angels (Genesis 19.1), but the most important day for many was when he was saved from Sodom and Gomorrah with his daughters (Genesis 19:29).
The days of Lot were days of Prosperity and Liberation.
God has better days for you!
The reason why Jesus remembered the days of Elijah, Noah and Lot is to compare with the most important day in all history: the day of his triumphant return.
In the same way as in the days of Elijah, Noah and Lot, many were not waiting for there to be an end and there was. We learn with these three characters that God will save us as He saved them.
Before the return of Jesus there will be days of apostasy, but God will operate great miracles and will take us away. The Lord has an Alliance with his Church and will save it with great liberation.
That is why every day of our life is important and we must live at every moment as if Jesus were going to return already. So all our days will be unforgettable.
