As I was jogging last night in the empty city of Corinth, I stopped to take a picture of the most beautiful building in the town; in my opinion at least. That is the National Bank of Greece, located right in the heart of Corinth.
Sadly, it is the ONLY building in all Corinth (I want to say in all Korinthia but I am not 100% sure about that) that its architecture includes columns in the Corinthian order.
I have been in manyyyyy countries and even more cities/towns. Surprisingly, the Corinthian order is EXTREMELY POPULAR with non-Greeks who use it in every chance they get. In modern Greece, however, even in the town where the specific architectural order was born, you won't find many if any constructions that honour our forefathers. And my question is: Some dare to wonder why we lose names or history to random neighbors?
