A combination of the answer and the players id is hashed to create a code. So for every user the presented answer is different.

I'm not sure how he decodes, you could reach out to him. But if the encode is always the same (easy enough to test by trying something a half dozen times) then you can pick a potential winner, put in their username and the correct answer and see if the hash matches their answer.
