This post is about the 20 foot shipping container in which I had converted to be our underground shelter on our tiny house hilltop.
My wife had come up with this idea about buying a used shipping container for about $1,500 and "burying" it on our hillside with open end coming out of the downhill side of our hill that overlooks our valley view below.
(The 20 foot shipping container my wife had purchased - delivered to the bottom our hill! I... had to figure out HOW to get this thing up our 300 foot hilltop AND over to the hole bulldozed for this container! - I just hired a friend to figure this AND do this for me!)
So... the work begins! My friend and another helper of his began to "tow - drag" this thing up the hill and moved - wrenched it into its snug little hole prepared for it.
(My friend's helper using his "homemade", battery wrenching system to move the container into its hole)
(The distance the container had to be wrenched up into the hole)
(FINALLY... the container is up into its hole - this process took about TWO hours to do because the cable would get very hot from the stress of the weight of the container; so, it had to be moved literally inches at a time!)
So, there you have it, for now... the moving of the 20 foot container to its hole. My NEXT blog will be about the construction process of the interior of the underground shelter and what I had to do to improve the strength of the shelter to withhold 3 feet of earth on top of its roof! Until then, STAY TUNED for more TINYHOUSECRYPTOS adventures!
