My work is done for this year and I am now free to travel for the next month before returning back to work my first getaway destination was decided on the weekend a island not far from Phuket province called Koh Hong Island only 45 minutes by long tail boat from Phuket Bang Rong Pier, to get to the pier you can take what they call the Blue Songtaew bus from the Phuket bus terminal costing you $1.20 US (40 Baht) The bus ride is just under one hour to get to Bang Rong Pier, from the pier there are speed boats or long tail boats to take you across to Koh Hong Island.

Taking the speed boat would get you there in 20 minutes and double the price I was in no hurry the long tail boats are more fun and you can see more without flying pass everything and are able to take photos along the way without been tossed overboard more of a gentle ride on a tail boat the day trip cost me $35 US (1,200 Baht) that will include lunch on the beach, snorkeling, and visiting 3 more little islands around the area.

Koh Hong Island is not a big island but a very stunning island with clear tropical warm turquoise waters and there is the Hong Island Viewpoint that gives you a 360 degree view of all the islands around the Krabi province, it was built over the covid period and has not long ago been completed there is a metal staircase with 420 steps to climb and believe me it's not for the faith hearted but certainly worthwhile even if you have to crawl your way up.

After climbing these 420 steps up the metal staircase I waited a few minutes to catch my breath and continue along a wooden walkway for about 10 minutes taking me up to the main viewing platform up here you are 110 meters above sea level and have the most breathtaking views of all the Krabi islands as far as your eyes can see it wasn't the clearest off days but still spectacular views to see and well worth the effort.

For me this was one of them moments when, I remember seeing Thailand through postcards and now, I was seeing the real Thailand I had for so long wanted to see, I was frozen in awe standing on this wooden platform just did not want to leave this spot, from up here you could see the Koh Hong Island beach and the surrounding national park.

Unfortunately I had to leave these views behind me and make my descend back down the metal staircase to the beach where lunch would be waiting for us then a short tail boat ride around the other side of Koh Hong Island to Tonsai Beach do a bit of walking around and snorkeling if you wanted to, I was more for the walk around the national park for the natural beauty.

If you were wanting to stay on Koh Hong Island it was not possible as it is a reserved national park with no accommodation available but you can stay at the other nearby beaches, Ao Nang Beach, Tonsai Beach, and Railay Beach which are only a scooter or taxi ride away, I had decided just to do the day tour because I was more interested in seeing them astonishing views from the Hong Island Viewpoint platform and that impressed me more then enough it was really a worthwhile trip over to the island just to see these views.
