Phuket city, in Thailand, is a city that is very popular with tourist all year round mainly because of all the beautiful beaches that are in this city lined along the coastline of the Andaman sea, I got to see a few of these amazing beaches along this coastline when, I was in Phuket city last week, I visited Patong beach which is the main beach of Phuket city but if you take a drive along the coastline road up around the mountains you will meet many other beaches that are not, at all miles apart.
The distance between these two beaches Kata Beach and Patong from shoreline to shoreline is about 8 km but the road distance over the mountain hill road is about 11 km driving pass a couple more beaches and the reason, I wanted to visit Kata beach was because it's a surf beach and has some worthwhile graffiti to look at on there beach walls.
There are many beaches along the coastline of Phuket city and Kata beach seems to be the most visited beach amongst the tourist, this 1.5 kilometer golden sandy beachfront is popular not only for it's incredibly blue sea but the beauty of nature that surrounds this beach.
The amazing part about this beach the actual beachfront of Kata beach, 90% of the beachfront is owned by Club Med Resort, so here you will find that most of the shops, restaurants and hotels are behind the second road of Club Med Resort, meaning that Kata Town, is found behind the back road of Club Med Resort.
Kata Beach is also known as "Surf Town" where as in between the months of November to April you will find these clear crystal turquoise waters flat as a pancake but come the monsoon season between May to October, because of climate changes the sea becomes rougher, thus all the surfers begin flocking to this beach, it reminded me of Bondi Beach in Sydney seeing all these surfers out there on that day but not as bigger waves or as cold as Sydney was more pleasant no wet suits needed.
To my surprise my friend was telling me that, they even host a surf competition here once a year didn't expect that in Thailand and they have a few surf shops in the town were you can rent surfboards and they will even teach you the basics how good is that, I was surprised to see so many keen Thai surfers out there and they even love there surfing graffiti which gave the beach more of a Miami look.
I honestly didn't expect surfing conditions here on this beach or in Thailand itself but then if you are not into surfing you can hire boogie boards or go scuba diving, snorkeling or parasailing there are many activities to keep you entertained on these Thailand beaches and if you just want to lay around there are many shady trees with deckchairs and umbrellas in place and beach vendors to serve you with there cold drinks, fruits and Thai dishes. At the moment it's quite because of the pandemic but, I feel it's the best time to be here no crowds and peaceful.
