Some are truly expensive. The latest one I found is Darth Maul from 2001, and prices can go up to $ 10.000. It's almost impossible to find a sealed set now. I really tried to buy some sets to sell maybe in 20 years, but I just can't let them sit there without building them 😂. Some people see money in lego, but I see fun 😂. I actually have some sets that I haven't opened, but only because I don't have a place to put them 😂.
