The flood tide of uncertainty rises
Engulfing, submerging
The familiar, the known.
Even knowing becomes unknown,
Rafts built of thought and language ebb,
Worry loose, scatter and sink.
The waters, soft and brimming,
Swallow all before them, no matter how hard,
How strong, how rooted.
The paths and ways of our forebears dissolve,
The sodden pages of the old stories bleed
Of all their ink and meaning.
I cast off my wet shoes and clothes
Lay down, the sodden dead weight and burden,
Of my culture and paddle
Lightfooted and free,
Into the sky filled puddles of opportunity
And freedom.
Footfalls are filled with light
And the path is liquid.
Sends ripples out to infinity,
In every direction,
With every step,
With every breath.
A journey tide,
A life unfolds...
