Saint Panteleimon Orthodox Church in Palaios Panteleimonas.
The small mountain village of Palaios Panteleimonas is inhabited again now days. As our tour guide pointed us on this village as a must see in the area we went there with our rental car, we like to go to places without a bus load of people.
The story we heard from our guide was that this village was abandoned some way back and was inhabited again a couple of years back. People left the village as there was no electricity and a crappy water installation . So when a couple of years back people started going back there, they first made sure their was electricity and internet available and they replaced the water pipes bringing the basic needs for modern times up to date. They have restored a lot of buildings over the years but most structures where preserved very nice. I understood from the story of our guide that the church has always been occupied by some orthodox priests to keep looters out of the church.

A nice detail, when we where looking around this church their was a mass or singing rehearsal going on behind the little doors, you see on photo three, inside the church. This gave our visit too this church a very nice touch and it gives me even more respect when visiting a church, yes the catholic in me pops up at those moments.
