What programming languages should I learn to develop apps on the Steem Blockchain?

If you are starting from scratch then Javascript is a pretty good choice. One benefit is that you can build your whole stack, both front-end and back-end, with the same language. There are also two libraries for accessing the Steem blockchain, dSteem and steem-js, already available for Javascript users.
So your stack could be all JS, something like:
- Front end: Javascript (plain or using React / Vue libraries)
- Back end: Node.js (which is also Javascript) and Mongo database
- Blockchain access: dSteem / steem-js Javascript libraries
You would also be in good company. Some of the biggest applications already on the Steem blockchain use Javascript. So there's likely to be lots of support and other devs who can help you out:
- Steemit condensor: Javascript (React)
- Busy: Javascript (React)
- Utopian -v2: Javascript (Vue.js) and the Quasar Framework
It's worth checking out some of the open-source applications of the Steem blockchain on github. They have icons to show which language they have used.
There are other good choices too! Python is popular and hivemind is being built in python (although I assume it will be accessible with any language?). You can read more about it here to understand what kind of impact it will have: https://github.com/steemit/hivemind
