This is the purpose of the Steem "Communities" development.

Groups will be able to set up their own sub-spaces on Steemit and will have control over the posting within that space.  There will be two types of Community:

  • Communities where anyone can post, but where the founders / moderators can subsequently hide posts from view.
  • Communities where only certain authors can post.

Communities will also offer a separation from each individual's blogs since posts made in a community will not appear in a blog and vice versa. This will give much more flexibility. For example a user may have their own cooking blog and then publish occasional crypto articles or competition entries outside of their blog, keeping their blog focused.

To prevent censorship all content will be published through the main Steemit space, irrespective of moderation. As such, posts in individual communities will not be private but transparent to all users.

It is not clear when "Communities" will be completed and made available. My guess is after SMTs are completed. That's probably the right order of priorities if resources are scarce since external platforms like Steemhunt or Musing are already providing another way to create separate communities.

Still, it should be another positive development for Steem when it comes into play.
