It doesn't really matter though whether they are the same person or not. There's not a huge difference to the overall Steem economy and environment between a whale only upvoting one person and a whale only upvoting themselves.

There are plenty of issues with Steem but I always look at it as a wonderful experiment; the creation of a new economy. It was always likely to have difficulties.

The arrival of SMTs and associated Steem platforms brings the opportunity for many more ideas and experiments. Already there are lots of great ideas coming out, combinations of oracles and moderation teams and different ways to earn tokens. Proof of brain, proof of activity, proof of health concepts thrown in the mix as well.
