Greetings Steemians! I learned about this community from a woman who attended the Full Circle Fund's The Future of Ownership at COVO in San Francisco. A well known impact investor, Marco Vangelisti was responding to a comment saying that bitcoin was too complex to for anybody to understand. This woman challenged him and said there was a community of regular folk who understood how they worked and that were participating in crypto-currencies via steemit. That sparked some curiosity and became a call of action.
I have no idea what to expect and I have no expectations. I am simply a lifelong learner and am satisfying a curiosity that I've always had about how cryptocurrenicies works.
Also, I truly believe that something is inherently flawed with our monetary system that supports infinite extraction on a finite planet. Undoubtedly we are in unprecedented times and unprecedented times require unprecedented solutions. Solutions like cryptocurrencies and communities like Steemit.
I also look forward to being apart of a movement that shifts our (meaning the whole of humanity's) collective consciousness and is beginning to cultivate the infrastructure that is needed to a return to the commons and the new/next/we/restorative economic system. Steemit may very well be an important step in the democratization of capital and that evolution shift towards community wealth building.
