Ancient Rome is the greatest ancient state. The Romans introduced democracy and the Senate, but they were by no means the first. Before the Romans, democracy was, for example, in Athens.

Yet Rome was able to achieve what the Greeks could not, namely, greatness and such a vast territory. In fact, the Romans copied everything from the Greeks. For example, religion, clothing, culture.

Later the Roman Empire collapsed into two parts and thus the Byzantine Empire appeared. The Byzantines themselves called their country the second Rome. Thus formed the second Roman Empire with its capital in Constantinople. Since Rome was the second, the emblem was an eagle with two heads.

The Byzantine Empire existed for quite a long time, and then it was defeated by the hands of the Ottomans. The Byzantine Empire was Orthodox and extended its religion to many territories. Under the influence of Byzantium Orthodoxy, Russia also accepts. After the fall of Byzantium, Russia calls itself the third Rome. Did she have the right to do this or is it just the desire of someone else's greatness?

The United States also surprised me, because they are increasingly comparing themselves to Ancient Rome. More and more often there are articles in which the United States calls itself the fourth Rome. Sometimes politicians talk about this, and the media also write. Unlike Russia, the United States compares itself with Western Rome, and not with Eastern Rome. The fact is that Western Rome was originally a republic, it had a senate, there were equal citizens and Rome was originally a democracy. The United States shares the values of the Roman Republic and believes that, like the Romans, they bear their values for others.

I believe that the United States and Russia are unfair to call themselves the third and fourth Rome. These countries have little in common with Rome and their achievements. China does not call itself the fifth Rome? It is necessary to have national pride and not use someone else's glory.
