I get the feeling you read The Motley Fool (fool.com). When they discuss various cryptocurrencies, it is with an eye at the utility of the token - use case. If a token doesn't have a plan for bringing applications to their blockchain, then it ends up being, um, looked down upon. Without application developers finding use for a coin, it is pretty much a bad sign from an investment standpoint.
