When we were kids, it's a joy to have our own toys. But it's more fun if we build it ourselves!
Paper planes and paper boats are the easiest to make. If you're bored in class or when your parents forbid you to go outside and play with other kids for not taking afternoon naps, making paper toys was a great pastime.
I also remember how we kids race our paper boats to an open canal after a heavy rain. How we shouted our lungs out "faster faster faster!" As if our boats have their own lives.
The winner gets a pat in the back and a loud clap, while losers whine and cry.
To be able to fold a perfect boat is an accomplishment in itself. A faster one makes the greater joy.
How we recite our dreams of someday riding a big cruise ship and touring the world while folding papers.
Other kids simply wanted to catch tons of fish on smaller boats, while others wishes to reach the other island.
I made this boat (in the picture) a couple of years back, while sitting in my office chair, while sipping coffee, while on a break on brainstorming a heavy task . I needed to ease my mind but instead, I was drowned in a wistful thinking. I walked down memory lane.
This little paper boat made me happy.
I have never been to a cruiseship.
Never been to a pirate ship.
But - - - a sailor marry me.
Does that even count? *scratches my head
