We explored the history of achievements & buildings in our initial game design process. Then we explained the current relationship between blueprints and buildings, with each building requiring one or two unique blueprints that govern its growth potential.
For the rest of the series, we will explore individual buildings, their role in the game, and some strategies that will help you find their requisite blueprint.
The Planning Office is where your household infrastructure begins. Every other building has its growth limited by the growth of the planning office. For any target building level, the planning office has to have that level first. Pretty straightforward.
The first level requires "First One Free." Every household unlocks "First One Free" when their first alien is born, and it is usually the first blueprint that you will claim. After that, the Planning Office scales based on "You're A Parent". The Planning Office requires three blueprints to reach level 3, but it does not count the original "First One Free". It levels up based on "You're A Parent" blueprints.
Every alien gets "You're a Parent" once when they first have offspring. Every alien will eventually become a parent by reaching the top of the sage leaderboard, even if their household never directly births more aliens. That means this building scales directly with the size of your household, but at a delay.
Since the Planning Office limits the growth of every other building, all maximum building levels are directly limited by the overall growth of your household. Most blueprints you will earn more slowly than you would earn "You're A Parent."
With thirteen buildings and fifteen achievements to explore, we have a whole series of posts planned out. Next time we explain residences & worker slots and begin exploring the six residence types that are available.
