It may be early to talk about The King of Fighters XV, but Terry Bogard will warm the atmosphere from the greatest video game crossover in history: as of today he will distribute socks from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
A whole signing, since few characters represent SNK's acronym as well as the wolf of South Town: his trajectory in the Fatal Fury and King of Fighters sagas has established him as one of the greatest ambassadors of a genre.
To which we must add, of course, a charisma capable of rivaling that of Ken Masters and some techniques that have led him to cross his knuckles with Ryu and the most powerful fighters of Capcom, Arika or Tencent games.
This is the return of the South Town Wolf
Although the incorporation of Terry to the panel of fighters has been a pleasant surprise, its techniques and movements take us to known terrain, and we can even execute improved versions (as it happens with the characters of Street Fighter) using the button commands.
In addition, and as a scoop, Terry will have two side smash: the Burn Knuckle and the Power Dunk. Here is your list of movements and how to execute them:
- The Power Wave (normal smash) is a projectile that goes flush, capable of sweeping any enemy in its path. In addition, for the occasion you can also run in the air.
- Burn Knuckle (lateral smash to the front) offers an offensive assault that advances at a distance quite grateful to the price of a loading time that will force us to study when to execute it.
- Rising Tackle (smash up) breaks with the classic concepts of anti-air attacks by offering a powerful spinning kick up, with a brief initial moment of invincibility.
- The Power Dunk (smash down) is a powerful aerial assault that starts with a jump to the front and culminates with a blow against the ground that forms an arc.
- Finally, Terry's Crack Shoot (backward side smash) is a restrained swing jump that closes with a hammering kick. An interesting extra boost that executed at the key moment can save us from a fall.
Terry's attacks have weaknesses in the sense that, despite his strength, several of them can leave him exposed, although that mobility can also benefit him greatly to prevent falls.
A stage and guests worthy of a final of The KOF
As is the tradition with each new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighter, Terry will be accompanied by his own stage, set in the classic final scenario of the saga The King of Fighters: a huge stadium to overflow with audiences with fireworks and a huge pantall贸n in which the action is reflected.
As a stadium it stands out for a design based on traditional fighting games, so it does not offer floating edges although it is possible to cross the limits with a powerful shot.
Another of the special attractions of the King of Fighters ring is that we will always see iconic SNK veterans in the background:
- From the Fatal Fury saga we will see Andy Bogard, Joe Higashi, Tung Fu Rue, Geese Howard, Blue Mary, Rock Howard, Kim Kampwan, Billy Kane or Ryuji Yamazaki.
- From the saga The King of Fighters we can see Athena, Kyo, Iori, Goro Daimon, the couple of criminals Chang and Choi,
- Ikari Warriors say Ralf and Clark present with their aspects of the King of Fighters
- From the Art of Fighting saga we have Ryo, King, Yuri
Unfortunately, captivating and lethal Mai Shiranui has not passed the cut since, according to Sakurai himself, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a game for all ages, referring - quite possibly - to its revealing combat attire.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Pass, the season pass of the Nintendo game, allows us to have access to five packs of applicants. Each pack includes a fighter, a new stage and music theme packages. We have already seen Joker from Persona 5, the Hero of Dragon Quest and Banjo and Kazooie from the Banjo saga. From today Terry Bogard joins him, and soon, we will have another fighter whose identity has not been confirmed.
