Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) is one of those video games that I've been hearing rumors for years. And considering the success of the franchise and its latest installment, it seems like a sure bet that sooner or later there will be a GTA 6. But now, for the first time, we receive information from Rockstar's own sources in which not only confirms the development of this sixth installment, but ensures that it will be the next great title of the company and the first details are revealed.
It has been an article by Kotaku aimed at culture change within Rockstar that has revealed that interviews with 15 developers of the company have confirmed that GTA 6 is Rockstar's next big project. Despite this, it seems that we should not expect to see it for ourselves soon, and that is to say that "it is still in an early stage of development."
Along with this, it has been explained that the idea with GTA 6 could go through launching a medium-sized title and expanding it constantly with updates. Basically, this would work under the game as a service model, as GTA V already does in its online variant, but also applying to single-player modes.
"A plan that [Rockstar's] management has put on the table for the next game, which is a new title in the Grand Theft Auto saga, is to start with a moderate-size release (which, by Rockstar standards, still it would be a big game) that expands with regular updates over time, which would try to minimize stress and crunch, "explains the Kotaku article.
Thus, it seems that despite the rumors of a supposed new Bully game, it seems that GTA 6 will finally be the video game that will occupy most of Rockstar's efforts for the next few years. At the moment, the official information does not go further and, since it is at an early stage of its development, we will have to be vigilant and wait for the company to reveal more for the future. ¿Perhaps the revelation of next-gen consoles is the stage to unveil GTA 6 to the world? Only time will tell, but I will be attentive to bring any news that arises about it.
