Putting aside the labels, realistically speaking, everything is on a scale of greater liberty or tyranny. Most of these countries don't have freedom of speech. I.e., they've implemented hate speech laws which is the beginning of speech control, and that's the beginning of mind control. If you cannot question an event without breaking a hate speech law, where does that end? In some countries, you cannot ask questions about the holocaust. Had we hate speech laws in America, the regulation of free speech would quickly move into other areas too. They'd throw science denial into the hate speech laws somehow. Perhaps "science" would get grouped into the federally protected things, and then people couldn't talk about 9/11, coronavirus, or global warming without sticking strictly to prescribed and official narratives. If the scientism that "scientists" promote becomes federally protected, then questioning, ridiculing, or challenging the said ideas would become illegal.
