Well, I've got nothing against "legit" transgender people who do it because they strongly and genuinely identify as the opposite sex. Generally, this means they've had gender reassignment surgery. In these cases, bathroom and lockerroom situations become less problematic because they've essentially faked it until they've made it by way of physical appearance. This process weeds out the disingenuine types that might be acting out of ulterior motives, like gaining access to the women's locker room.

Even the hardnosed Iranian regime will allow for a legally recognized change in sex on identity cards if gender reassignment surgery makes them in alignment with their gender identity claims. However, I do not see this as a reason to allow bio males to compete against bio females in sports. Things should have to be somewhat reasonable to appease all sides. The expectation that people ought to get access to the same locker rooms when they're not sporting similar equipment seems extreme to many, and it can also easily get exploited.

I think gender dysphoria is a legit thing, and it'd be unfortunate to be born in that situation. People were doing this before it became the in-vogue thing to do, and I think if they have the resolve to commit hardcore enough to make the permanent alteration.
