Starvation and lack of medical attention have plagued humanity from time immemorial. I think the illusion is that there's a quick fix without consequences. The free market which you say is cool and all is the first casualty of communism and the lack of it will only exacerbate these problems. Part of the real solution for affordable health care is to legalize interstate commerce to make these health care entities compete for our business with competitive rates. Part of the problem with feeding the homeless is to allow people to keep more of their income so they can afford to be more charitable. Wouldn't you like to make enough money so that if your family fell on hard times, you could help to support them? It's the welfare we pay to the state in income taxes, which goes to corporate welfare, warfare, and public welfare that causes people to live from paycheck to paycheck. Communism, "all the free stuff," will only increase the tax burden even more. That's the trade-off for free stuff, is that you have to sacrifice more. It's a good deal if your 100% unproductive to get all that free stuff, but a total drag if you are a worker.
