I don’t think either of us disagrees that the climate is changing across the globe all the time. What we don’t know is: how many degrees of this climate change is caused by humans as opposed to a natural phenomenon like earth’s ever-changing position relative to the sun or the sun cycles themselves. Once you divine that number ask yourself: What are the consequences of trying to change human activity?
I think we’ve already agreed that our carbon output is a contributing factor to the greening of the earth; or rather, the health and or quantity of global flora. That said when you take radical actions that dramatically influence human behavior, what will the effect be? I know what the scientific consensus is and also how contrived it is. However, earth has gone through natural periods of warming and cooling that had nothing to do with the industrial age.
As far as carbon taxes are concerned, you should ask yourself, after you pay those global taxes; how will the funds be used to change global temperature, and will those efforts be successful or detrimental? Additionally, it is only responsible to ask yourself: to what degree will the tax affect everyone? No matter what people do, the earth will survive, but many people won't survive in an economy which is overburdened with unnecessary taxation.
Whether or not you realize it, what you are advocating is tantamount to a massive human sacrifice. Most people are already living from paycheck to paycheck, that's just barely staying afloat. When you increase the cost of doing business, the bill gets passed down to the consumer who will have to pay more for goods and services that are necessary for survival.
Best of luck to you too, hopefully, you'll be able to afford to survive the final solution to your perceived climate woes.
