"I think we agree on a lot of levels, but disagree about the how."

I had to go back and re-respond to this because I think my initial response was lazy, and this is because of fatigue. If you mean we both agree that health care should not only be affordable, yet also effective then I think you are right, we do both agree on that. However, for single-payer, we risk being forced to buy something that doesn’t work. I would rather go without, as opposed to agreeing to an inadequate or overly priced plan or service.

I think you're right there is a whole lot to consider. You've got me down a rabbit hole looking further into the AMA. Some of the deepest problems might stem from even the most basic of licences. However, eliminating those would make choosing a provider a bit of a crapshoot. So much to consider, fixing it well would probably take a multi pronged a approach or enough deregulation to make room for freedom, and this is a freedom that most people wouldn't even begin to know what to do with if they had it. I guess we'll have to see how it plays out. I certainly don't have any influence over the system. That said, I might just make some popcorn and pretend it's a horror flick.

Thanks for the back and fourth, this
made for one helluva conversation!
