The Incredibles 2

Hello everyone! I'm Thomas and I'm going to talk about the movie "The Incredibles 2" by Brad Bird.

Before starting the review, I would like to give a "presentation", something to talk about what more or less I will talk about in my Blog. Since I was a child I really like movies, although nothing so serious; but, lately I have developed a love towards the cinema in general, and I wanted to take advantage of this to post about this. In summary, I will talk about movies, reviews about movies (first I'm going to talk about movies that have just been released and blockbusters this year, and then we'll see) and things like that related to the cinema; BUT, this does not mean that from time to time I do not tell them anything else that comes to mind, the central thing will be reviews but not the only thing.
I hope you like it! Now, let's start with this review.

First of all, we must know what the movie is about:

Sinopsis

Everyone's favorite superhero family returns in The Incredibles 2, but this time Helen is in the middle, leaving Bob at home with Violeta and Dash, managing the day-to-day life of these heroes. This will be a big change for everyone, and to top it all, the family doesn't know Jack's budding superpowers. When a new villain prepares his brilliant and dangerous evil plan, the family and Frozone must find a way to get back to work together, something that seems much easier in theory than in practice, even if they are all incredible.

SPOILER ALERT

After 14 f***ing years of waiting, Pixar finally brings us the long awaited sequel to the 2004 film. To start with the critique, I must say that to introduce them in my opinion, that I liked the film, it is a VERY good film, but, for the big one that was the first one, which is the best thing Pixar has done, with its dark background, quite indirect for children, the sequel is a little behind. It's a little bit of a replication of what the first film did, but I'll explain myself better later. But, I must say that Pixar had us used to bad sequels (Looking for Dory, Monster University, etc) but, the film does not disappoint at all and becomes very entertaining for any audience, the magic of Pixar after all.

What I did like it

I really liked the film, but let's go into the details, shall we? One thing I was worried about when I saw the trailer was that the film would become "feminist" in a way, giving more of a role to Elastigirl and giving the reins of the kids and the family to Bob, BUT, I must say, I liked that in a way (I'll explain later why I didn't like it) Seeing Bob deal with parenting was really very touching, as he tried to keep his children afloat while they were dealing with problems of everyday life and being heroes, but this time leaving the danger to his wife, the relationship with his children had not really been explored in the first film, I think, and yet here we see how Bob helps his children in a rather tender way.

And on Elastigirl's side, seriously, all his scenes were great, in this movie he literally came down to action but all these sequences were very entertaining and well done (and those approaches to his...ummm...cofcofcof, sorry, I follow) The way he applied his powers and how he used them, showing how capable he was, was pretty good.

All these scenes combined with the PERFECT special effects that Pixar always offers, and the environments they designed, the sunsets in the cities and everything that has to do with it, the scenes were another level. Speaking of the effects, when we see that 14 years have passed, we obviously see changes in the animation, but I am surprised by the work of the animators in trying to maintain the essence of the first film (which still had a beautiful animation) but without losing its touch. Seriously, I really liked the new character designs.

Things that everyone surely loves about the Incredibles 1 are definitely their characters, and I love how they were kept with the same good vibe, even improving some. Like.... Jack Jack, let's talk about the baby. And yes, I agree with many critics when they say that from this movie, Jack Jack could easily be the best thing about this film, and definitely what all the humor in the movie falls into. They use their powers to entertain and love him, every time Jack Jack appeared on screen, he stole my attention, he was redirected and the screen was completely stolen. Like for Jack Jack.

What I didn't like it

Something we can say about the Incredibles 2 that I didn't like, as I said before is the fact that I lost the background I had in the first film, I'll explain. When we look at the Incredibles 1, we see things like, reviving the glory days, adultery, midlife crisis, and the like. And the Incredibles 2, it doesn't have it, it's still a film that counts as a family going through a slight "crisis" while one of its members is going to save the world, something we've already seen in the prequel, only this time the roles are reversed giving Elastigirl the "family support", as I said before, I was worried since I saw the trailer, that it would go for the "politically correct" because it's the current thing. Don't get me wrong, I'm not "male chauvinist", but I would have liked to have seen something different. As I say that scenes of maturity that were seen in the first film were exchanged in this one for more scenes of humor and action (that work very well).

Well, I spoke earlier about how much I loved how they kept the old characters, but.... as far as the new characters are concerned... Things change completely, because, come on, they are completely bad. Every character that is not of the Incredible family was terrible, they treated them like losers and never made them shine. Besides, the design of the new superheroes was terrible, it didn't fit anywhere with the designs of the other characters. We never see them as anything more than troublemakers, and the "promise" that they are falls far short.

Really something that for me is difficult for a superhero film, is the villain, fulfilling all facets to have a good rival for the protagonists is quite difficult to write, I think. And the villain in this movie suffered this. It was THE MOST disappointing, because I think Syndrome is one of the best villains and seeing the successor to the problems of The Incredibles is so little as far as he is concerned, it is disappointing, because he really expected more from him, and for me he promised a lot, but it falls short and is nothing more than an excuse for the protagonists to have their adventure. It is predictable, tedious and with the same formula that Disney-Pixar has lately for villains. A total shame.

The Incredibles, if that becomes a good film, as it treats its characters, Jack Jack, the evolution of animation but without losing the first film' Haha, no. At the end of the day, the film is a lot of fun, it made me laugh a lot and really didn't lose its rhythm at any time. I hope we don't have to wait 14 more years to see the sequel.

Calification: 7.8/10
