Whilst everyone in my hometown were having fun celebrating the Sinulog festival last week, I went to Taiwan to take advantage of the Visa-Free Entry which is just applicable for 9 months starting November 2017. I don't really know much about Taiwan until Meteor Garden started airing here in the Philippines. Little then I know that aside from the famous Ying De University where most of the Meteor Garden scenes took place, Taiwan has a lot of "instagrammable" places to go to.
I met the Queen. One of the famous destination in northern Taiwan is the Yehliu Geopark. The place is a home of rock formations. Among those is the iconic "The Queen's Head".
How. It is formed due to the differential erosion caused by seawater during curst movement. When comparing the height of which with the crust’s rising rate, it is assessed that the age of the rock is about 4,000 years old. The so called "Queen’s Head” is in fact a mushroom rock; it gets the title because the shape as formed after the top of rock being fallen apart in 1962~1963 appears like the side face of Queen Elizabeth. source
Here's me fangirling the Queen and my photo bombers fangirling ME! :)
Ocean erosion pothole
Ocean erosion pothole is formed as a result of seawater erosion as well as weathering imposed on the notches created by differential weathering. A grain of sand may often be found inside the pothole. source
Another thing about Yehliu is the spectacular view. It's amazing to witness strange rock formations forged by seawater and time. Especially the view of the endless ocean meeting the sky.
How to go, Yehliu is located in the north of Taiwan. So if you are staying in the city, the trip would take more than an hour by bus. There is no subway going to Yehliu since its already a province area. So from Taipei Main Station Gate 3, board the 1815 bus towards Jin Qing Center. The trip took us 1 hour and 45 minutes. You need to stop in Yehliu. Walk about 15 minutes and you will then see a lot of signs towards the entrance of Yehliu Geopark. The entrance fee is NT$80.
I'm a nature lover by heart so to witness a kind of nature like the Yehliu Geopark, it makes me even more appreciate our mother nature. Our world really composes a lot of beautiful sceneries. The Yehliu Geopark is one of the example of nature scenery that we should preserve but like they said, everything is just temporary because it undertakes natural devastation. The worst is if it's being spoiled by mankind.
