Starting My Books Collection Journey🥳 A Big Fog Outside, and More 🇬🇭😘🌫️
A huge fog happened in Tamale 🇬🇭 Today. Mostly, fogs as we all know are accompanied by droplets of water. This fog that happened today was nothing of that sort. The air was heavy with some white dust. It was impossible to see someone 100 meters horizontally away from you.
I had wanted to start my day earlier but due to the intense fog outside, I didn’t deem it a good idea, after all, I was only going to a bookshop.
I did not go outside today until after 1 pm. I went to town immediately after Jummah prayers. I went to see a friend who is a book retailer. A few months ago, I placed an order to purchase some books. It was out of stock then so I was asked to wait for a few weeks. Last week, Mohammed called to inform me about the books. My books are finally in stock and ready for pickup. This was a piece of good news and I was excited about it.
It was great to finally be able to see and touch these books. I read these books when I was in the university, but it was only soft copies. I downloaded soft copies because I couldn’t afford hard copies then. Even though books are not really expensive here, I still thought it would be economically wise to simply download the soft copies for free. But even then, I knew the first things I would be doing with my monies immediately after they start coming would be buying books, hard copies.
I see my books as my trophies. I like to confidently display them in a small shell in my space where everyone can see them. It’s a big flex for me.
I picked two books today. The famous Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achibe and the 48 laws of Power by Robert Greene. I actually ordered and paid for four but as of now, only two are available.
From the books shop, I roamed around the streets a little. Today was a market day in Tamale so entering inside the main markets was going to be a tough adventure that I wasn’t prepared for.
The dust in the air by the fog gave people some funny looks. There were no cool beards outside today. Everyone’s beard was kinda grey. To the usual market people, the fog was not a big deal at all. They went on with their normal busy hustles.
I was so excited about the day that I almost forgot to eat. It was on my way home that I saw a less busy koko joint which reminded me of my empty belly.
