Beautiful on Vocation, a Weekend at a Museum with My Girlfriend - WE 139

This weekend, my girlfriend and I visited two art museums in Tamale Ghana. The Red Clay Studios and The Savannah Center For Contemporary Arts (SCCA). These two art centers are the two largest contemporary arts institutions in the Northern Ghana and even Arguably the largest in the whole of Ghana.

SCCA and The Red Clay Studios are very accessible. However I’m happy that I was able to go for this trip, especially with someone who is very dear to me. This was also the first time I could afford to travel with someone I love. Doing things I love to do at a slower pace doesn’t make me feel less excited.

Right now, between my girlfriend and I, I can’t tell who was more excited about this trip. Such a beautiful moment evoked a sense of awe, wonder, and appreciation for the great work put together by these wonderful artists.

The first site we visited was the Savannah Center for Contemporary Art (SCCA). The paintings on the walls were amazing. So detailed that one could not help but ask questions. Art to me is the best form of expression. Bringing your imagination into existence. So walking around a room full of beautiful artworks to me felt like walking through the minds of people. I feel so lucky to have this deep love for art. And to think that the person I love is also a big fan of art, that to me is a blessing in disguise.

Visiting the Red Clay Studios with my girlfriend was a big adventure for me. It brought a sense of peace and serenity as we were able to escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life and simply take in the beauty of contemporary art installations around us.

Apart from the beautiful and artistic nature of the Red Clay Studios, it is also a center of education. By just spending an hour walking around the site and listening to a tour guide, you can learn about the history of Ghana in a more detailed and comprehensive way far better than what is taught in the classroom.

I’m definitely going to visit these sites again. I like that I was able to make memories. I like that I was able to go somewhere I’ve always wanted to visit.
