Mr. Blue eyes

I fell for our cat Mochi the minute I noticed his blue eyes while he was sitting under the car at the dumpster spot where we rescued him. He sat there day in and day out, just being pretty. Didn't make any fuzz with the other cats (unlike some siblings) and was not too scared (or so we thought). We know now he's probably the biggest scaredy-cat out there but at least he's off the streets being well-fed and taken care of.

He's such a charmer

If you look at him while he's chilling, he winks at you and looks so cute, his cuteness just asks me to pet him, but then he gets scared. I try to take advantage of the moments that I know I will have some cool interaction with him without him being spooked. Such as the moments when he is waiting patiently for one of his hoomans to give him some chicken from our plates, or when it's morning and he sees one of us enter the kitchen, he will sit under one of the chairs waiting for us to look at him so he can make the licking gesture to tell us he's hungry (he does it every day). Even though he's just trying to get something from us, it's a form of interaction, he knows we are sensitive to his cuteness and so he uses it. Smart guy!

He found a new spot

Or actually several. Until last week, he never jumped on the kitchen counter, ever. And out of the blue, he did this last week. I was not sure why but I found the reason the next day, a few tiny fruit flies had gathered there because of the avocado remaining in the tiny container we normally empty at the end of the day. We forgot and some fruit flies had gathered there, I barely saw them, but he did! So he patiently waited there until he could catch and eat them, lol.

Waiting for the right moment

To have a bigger success rate, he then decided he'd sit on the garbage bin as that meant he was halfway up the kitchen counter when he sees a fly he wants to capture. We are not used to him sitting there so we had at least 5 moments in the evening now that we wondered where our cat went, nobody saw him until we walked into the kitchen without taking into account he was sitting there, yes it was a bit of a scared moment as we did not expect an animal on our bin, lol. I now tell myself every time I can't find him, check the kitchen. He seems to like being in the dark and not being seen by us.

The picture is part of another hunting mission

The scratching post stands in the corner of the room, just next to the window, or during the day, in front of the window so he can enjoy whatever passes our window. At some point, he spotted a fly and it was very cool to see how patiently he was following it, very still without jumping to grab it even when he could. He waited exactly until the perfect moment appeared and then took the fly down. I was sitting on the couch, enjoying the good lightning and taking pictures for at least half an hour. I love how this one turned out, he's such a pretty guy.

We'll see what kind of shenanigans he will be up to today.. he seems to be getting more relaxed and adopting more spots in the house to sleep on. I guess that's progress even though he's still scared of humans in general.

Thanks for stopping by!
