Full days at the kindergarten means less time for classes at home

After kindergarten, I felt we should spent some time doing an art class as it has been a while since we were creative together. Currently our little lady is going to kindergarten again, as you may remember I felt like she needed the social interaction. Once she went back, I first let her go three full days every week, and decided the Mondays as well as the Fridays would be filled with classes at home. This would also give me the ability to focus on the things she's a bit behind with due to being at home too long. I thought it would be an ideal mix for all of us, and was quite surprised that she actually kept complaining during the other 4 days of the week that she wanted to go to "school".

Doubts about what's best for her

I have been in doubt if I would go ahead applying for the exemption for kindergarten and focus on homeschooling alone, but while the deadline was 2 days after (sigh, it took them 10 days to reply) the embassy got back to my email with question on how to proceed in case I was going ahead with this, I also noticed soon after she went back to kindergarten that this was probably not the best choice for her. Although I feel that the language barrier is an issue, she seems to be doing well here and even looks quite popular from what we notice. If she doesn't mind, I guess neither should we.

Language troubles

The thing what worried me the most was the fact that we will move to Spain somewhere next year, the date is not set yet, we will go as soon as we can but it can be spring or summer, worst case it will be in the fall next year. The thing is, where I can speak a nice word Spanish, she doesn't master the basics yet. She does pick it up quite well when I practice with her, I have to admit, but I feel being forced to learn in Hungarian, a language neither of us understands or speaks (besides a few words), while also having to learn Spanish is a bit too much. Therefore I decided I would have to sacrifice my time and effort to homeschool her and make sure it won't be too much for her.

Things planned out differently, she clearly is doing much better when she's at the kindergarten. Currently it's summer vacation and here it's open all summer, so kids are mainly playing there all day, they even have a swimming pool for the hot days. So I understand she's rather there than at home, especially when we have to work (part of) the day. But hopefully, it won't be a mistake when September arrives and they are starting to focus on learning again. I hope she can keep up with the rest while I can practice Spanish with her a few times a week to learn her the basics.

One thing that she never gets tired of is being creative

Just like her mother, she loves all sorts of creative activities and I notice that even when I don't give her any idea she can sometimes think of something she wants to make and just do it all by her self. She surprises me quite often with something she made, and I love it.

Today I thought we should spend a few hours of creative time at home to get her used to doing some classes with me as well again because I gave her some time off from the things I want to teach her as going back to kindergarten was intensive enough without it. She seems quite used to the routine again, and often wants to watch tv as soon as she gets home. I don't agree with this so I'm going to awake her inner creative spirit again to show her that she can do so many other great things besides watching tv. There's nothing wrong with watching it, but it can't slip into being a bad habit again, lol.

No plan

Today was a free paint class. My daughter usually paints with watercolor paint but she really enjoys it when I let her use acrylic paint. I was a bit hesitative before but I noticed that she can handle the different paint just fine nowadays. This means we'll probably have an acrylic painting session together more often! Yay!

I started mixing the colors first by adding white to them because this way the colors last longer and we can paint with these adorable pastel colors, I love them!

I truly enjoy how peaceful we can paint together

It's such a huge difference compared to when she's all into the tv or tablet sometimes. I really try to avoid too much time behind it because she turns into a different person (zombified?) when we allow her to watch it for a few hours. I hate it.

Whenever we sit down together to do some painting or other crafts, she's so quiet and all into her work, checks out mine every now and then, sometimes copies it :) so cute. Her mood afterwards is also very calm while she gets frustrated or annoyed whenever we tell her no to something after she has watched a cartoon. It's so clear that it's not good for a child's mind, but every parent probably knows that sometimes you just need to "buy some time" and allow them to watch something. Nevertheless, because of that, I may enjoy our creative journeys even more!

Can you see what she painted?

Too much paint left

I always feel stupid when I mix too much paint, but don't want to wash it through the sink. It's a waste of paint, don't you agree? Covering the paint doesn't always work out well, so I try to think of other things to paint as well, like this time I decided to paint a few wooden things as well as small cardboard cards for future purposes. These pastel colors look so adorable, I'm sure I will find a purpose for them.

While these small cards dried out, I suddenly felt inspired and knew what I was going to paint next. I was also in doubt about what I should sent to a few loved ones. While we've been painting the ideas came to me and I've ordered most needed items in the evening. Hopefully, I can continue creating them this week as I'm super excited.

Today we will paint again. It was so good for the both of us, and it will allow the both of us to clear our minds as well.

Thank you for stopping by!
