Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has revealed why he did not celebrate Fabieno's goal during Manchester City's Premier League clash on Sunday, which the Reds won 3-1 at Anfield.

City's players demanded a penalty after touching the ball by Arnold before the ball bounced and Fabinho scored the first goal for Liverpool.

"After every goal you have to stop, so I didn't celebrate, but in the end after resorting to mouse technology and calculating the goal, we should have continued to play," Van Dijk told Sky Sports.

"I think I saw the ball touch the hand of Bernardo Silva, and maybe then I touched Arnold's hand. What can I say? I can say a lot of things, but after calculating the mouse technology we have to accept the decision."

"The 8-point difference? We all feel there are a lot of games left, and a lot of things can happen between now and mid-May, so what we can do now is keep fit, the team needs everyone, and we do our best." .
