Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde has said he will continue to play a role in the sport.
"Ernesto Valverde will say if this is his last season at Barcelona," Abidal said in an interview published in the Sport newspaper on Monday.
Valverde's contract with Barcelona runs until June 30, 2020 with an option to extend it for another season.
Abidal said club president Josep Maria Bartumio "is talking to agents of (Lionel) Messi to extend his contract."
As for Neymar and the imminent opening of the winter transfer market, he said: "Now we do not rule out contract with him."
