Stok Kangri allowed for solo climbs or at least independent climbers to go due to being - non technical. I was with 2 friends who after reaching base camp and we received news of a death near the summit the night before they decided to abandon their summit climb leaving me to decide what to do. I asked around at BC from climbers who had just returned. I had a rough idea of the best places to cross the glacier so went with that. the night crossing ended up being 'safe and easy' but it was in daylight that it was clear that if you didnt follow that route or didnt know that that was the route and strayed off, then a night crossing would have been hazardous.

As climbers returned in daylight, the glacier was safe enough to cross at anypoint and view the many shallow gullies and ice melt streams - Although it was really big it was only a thin sheet, nothing deeper than 1 or 2 meters. daylight making it safer because you could clearly see which places were better to cross, jump and climb over and through. Night would have been jumping into the unknown lol.

Im sure the Stok Kangri glacier is nothing like what you have experienced though - a beginner glacier, level 1 - as it was described at BC giving me confidence- just follow the rock line on the left they said haha
