The component I want to suggest here is add limitation on breadboard viewer of fritzing beta.
Proposal
Fritzing beta has a feature that can view the circuit in various mode (schematic viewer, breadboard viewer, PCB viewer and Code). In breadboard viewer of fritzing beta, we can create a prototype of our circuit in the breadboard.
The problem that I encounter in breadboard prototyping of fritzing is that some of its action is impossible in actual breadboard connection of our circuit. What I mean is there are components in fritzing that can be placed in breadboard but in actual scenario it is impossible to connect.
Some of there are transformers, surface mount devices (SMD), small outline packages (SOP), and other components.
These components can not be inserted in the actual breadboard. However, in Fritzing beta it is allowed.
What I am proposing here is to limit fritzing beta the components which are can not be inserted in our breadboard. There must be a notification to inform the user that the component is not allow to place in breadboard.
Mockups / Examples
Here are the examples on how it work.
For example I am using 555 timer IC. In this example, 555 timer has two package type; dual in-line (DIP) and small outline package (SOP).
In actual breadboard, surface mounted device (SMD) can not be place because its package type was designed to be surface mounted on PCB.
If implemented, this is how it look like.
Benefits
Here are the benefits;
- Breadboard prototyping in fritzing beta will be the same in actual breadboard. Users will have an idea that the particular device is can not be place in breadboard.
- It is more realistic.
