Components

The component that I want to suggest in QUCS circuit simulator is to add other linear integrated circuits. QUCS library system has already some of linear IC (integrated circuits) but, i think it is lacking.

Linear digital IC is analog device that is theoretically characterize to have an infinite number of input levels. It is also a solid-state device.

Proposal

What's good for QUCS simulator is that it is free to use. It can be downloaded from the link below the picture above. I know QUCS lacks many components and it has many to improve. I want to help this project by giving suggestions to improve it service.

I am working on a circuit design that would control the operation of a DC motor to work on a limit of time. So, I am thinking of a monostable circuit made from 555 timer IC as the controller of the motor. Only to found out that I can not simulate the action of monostable circuit because QUCS does not have 555 timer IC.

What I am proposing here is to add some linear integrated circuits (linear IC) in QUCS libary system. This suggestion is not only limited to add 555 timer IC but, also some common linear IC.

Mockups / Examples

Here's the example on how the suggestion will work.

This is the current menu of library system of QUCS.

Let's zoom this to have a closer look.

If the suggestion will be implemented, there is an additional menu in library system (Other Linear IC)

If we click the Other Linear IC menu, a drop down will display showing the available components in this category.

Benefits

Here are the benefits;

  1. QUCS will have additional linear IC componnts.
  2. Users can now simulate circuits relating to linear IC using QUCS simulator.
