Components

The component I want to suggest here is to add Logisim a graph which display the action of simulation. This graph is a time domain graph in which it shows the action of the output of our circuit with respect to time (ex. voltage vs time graph).

Proposal

I am an electronic enthusiast and I like simulating electronics circuits either analog or digital electronics. Logisim is one of the simulation software that I used because it is a free software, simulates digital electronics circuit, easy to use (I prefer this software when simulating not so complex circuit because function are easy to use and the way it works is so simple).

In dealing with digital electronics circuit, timing of pulses is very important. What I mean of timing is the time when pulses goes high and low (On and Off). This is a problem I encountered in circuit simulation using Logisim. For example, I am developing a circuit whose output changes its state in a span of time (blinker or flip-flop). What I want to know is how long when it changes its state.

What I am proposing here is to add this feature.

This graph will show/display the action with respect to time. With this, users can predict the change of state of the output. This graph also must have a function that users can manually set the time interval of the graph.

Mockups / Examples

If this suggestion will be implemented, it will works like this.

(1) The graph will be added in the "Input/Output" library of logisim.

Under this library category:

(2) To use the graph, place it in the canvass by clicking it. Wire the component to where the output is to be taken.

(3) Double click the icon to show the graph.

(4) Click the displayed graph to change the settings.

Benefits

Here are the benefits if implemented:

  1. Logisim will now have a function/feature that display the output using time domain graph.
  2. Users can predict the changing of state (high to low, low to high) output by analyzing the graph.
  3. Logisim will have an addition component in its Input/output library.
