The component that I want to suggest here is for Logisim digital circuit simulator to add a feature that users can do multiple projects by creating tabs.
As of now, Logisim did not offer the users to work on multiple projects with in the same window/software. For the users to have a multiple project at the same time, it needs to open another Logisim software to cater the other project. It means, the number of projects your working on is the same with the number of launched software. It will result to higher memory consumption which will slow your computer's operating speed.
I am showing here an example of multiple projects in Logisim.
Proposal
What I am proposing here is to add a feature that the software will create a tab whenever the user will create a project. Another tab will be another if the user will create an additional project.
Users can switch tabs to work on prefer projects. It will be convenient for user rather than switching from window to window.
Mockups / Examples
Here are the examples on how the suggestion will work.
This the current scenario of Logisim when we create a project. Project name will be displayed on the header of the window.
For this suggestion, project name will not be display in the header of the window. Header will always be Logisim and the project name will be displayed on the tab. There will always be a tab whenever user will create project.
If the users will create another project, there is an additional tab for that project. The color of the activated tab is different from idle to indicate which project the user is working on.
Benefits
Here are the benefits if implemented:
- Users will be able to work on multiple projects in Logisim within the same window.
- Used up memory from opening another window when working on multiple circuit will be avoided. This addition memory cost might slow the operating speed of some computers.
- It is easier for the user to switch projects within the same window rather than going into another window to switch projects.
