As we are in the height of winter and it has been absolutely cold, I needed some extra warmth. A hot water bottle does the trick, and to make my bottle huggable, I decided to create a crocheted cover.
The sunshine showed up today after a few days of icy and gloomy weather, so I had a little chance to crochet outdoors and soak up those short hours of sunshine.

Body (Main Section) 馃Ф
Rounds 9 to mid-point (just above the middle):
SC in each ST around. SL ST to join at the end of each round.
Slit for Insertion 馃Ф
SC in the first half of the circumference (e.g., if you have 72 STs, SC in the first 36).
CH the same number of STs you skipped (e.g., CH 36).
Skip the same number of STs (36) and SL ST to rejoin.
SC in every ST around, including each CH ST. SL ST to join until you reach the desired height of the bag.
Tapering to Close the Bottom 馃Ф
Round 1: SC in the next 5 STs, DEC in the next. Repeat around.
Round 2: SC in the next 4 STs, DEC in the next. Repeat around.
Attached the bottom edges and SC through both layers to close. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
The slit was reinforced with SC, and the bag was easy to insert inside.
I added a crocheted flower to bring some colour to the design.
This was a very useful project, though it took longer to make than I expected. I am pleased that I dressed up my hot water bottle bag! Ready for the hot water.
I鈥檒l be happily hugging this all winter!
A lovely day to everyone!
