The time has come for us to decide to neuter our male kitty, Blu. I felt so sorry for him, but it had to be done. The main reason was that he was being too noisy every night, wanting to meet up with a possible girl cat, jumping here and there, obviously with his hormones going in all sorts of places, and he didn’t know how to control it.

Even Coco, my petite girl cat, was distraught and running away from him to the point where she had to sleep in a box to protect herself. He was also leaving us with not much sleep, as his nighttime crying was constant.

So, we booked him for an urgent neutering the other day and was booked early morning after.

On our way, he was good in the car but a little shaky. He had a leash on and seemed happy and comfortable as I carried him.

We picked the nearby veterinary surgery.

We entered the reception area, it is tidy.

They have pet foods.

There's a waiting area for cats, and beside it, a waiting area for dogs.

He didn’t know what would happen, but he knew something was going on, and I kept comforting him.

We didn’t wait for long, and the vet nurse called us in.

As we left, Blu was staring at us and he was pretty scared, and they would call us around lunchtime to pick him up.

Phew, relieved he was in, we had a quick bacon bap and coffee at the M&S garage on our way home.

After a couple of hours, the surgery called said Blu had a temperature, and they wanted to keep him for a little while longer. My goodness, I was thinking, "I hope it went well," but knowing how these things are done, it's a simple procedure, and I was confident he’d be okay unless they did something unintended. I was getting paranoid.

Okay, okay. We waited another four hours and finally got a call that he was fine and ready to be picked up.

We picked him up with all the instructions. Blu was brought to us in a little carrier case, still drowsy.

I carried him to the car, and he looked tipsy and confused.

But looking relieved and feeling safe.

When we reached home, he was so excited about the familiar environment.

I gave him food on his bed, and he ate it while half lying down—bless him.

He also had a shaved area where they put the IV fluid.

I tried putting the funnel on, but he was stressed, so I took it off as he was already too traumatized, and he seemed very careful with his wound.

The next day, he was limping, so I gave him a painkiller. He took it without a struggle. After that, he didn’t need any more and was already bugging me to play outside. I did let him, but supervised.

Since his neutering, Blu has been much quieter. He’s not doing his usual whims and noises, and we’re finally getting some peaceful nights again.

Hopefully, with this change, he’ll stay calmer, and Coco can relax too.

Have a wonderful day!
