Hey there, it's Maikel back with another video that I hope will change the way you approach your goals and commitments. Today, we're diving deep into the concept of precommitment - a strategy that I've found incredibly useful in my own life for overcoming procrastination.

If you're a chronic procrastinator, you're gonna love this technique!

Precommitment is all about making a decision in advance, committing to a course of action that helps us achieve our goals, even when future temptations or distractions arise. It's like making a promise to your future self, and it's a powerful tool for overcoming procrastination, maintaining discipline, and staying on track.

In this video, I'll share why this strategy is so effective at getting you to take action instead of procrastinating. I'll also provide practical tips and advice on how you can use precommitment in your own life, whether you're working towards a fitness goal, trying to improve your productivity, or striving to build better habits.

Just like in my previous & upcoming videos (you are subscribed, aren't you?), I'll be sharing real, actionable advice - no fluff. If you're looking for fluff, I'd recommend getting a dog. :)

Using precommitment is gonna help you make lasting changes in your life, which is what this channel is all about!

Remember, change isn't easy, but with the right strategies and a bit of perseverance, it's absolutely possible. I'm here to guide you through that process, sharing the lessons I've learned and the strategies that have worked for me.

So, are you ready to make a precommitment to your future self? Are you ready to take that next step towards achieving your goals?

If so, do this RIGHT NOW (well, after liking the video):

  1. Take on of your long-term goals and think of a way you can use precommitment to checkmate yourself into doing the work and staying consistent.

For example:

If you've been procrastinating on exercising more, signing up for a marathon could be it. If you want to start a side hustle, tell everyone you know you're launching an e-commerce story next month. Want to save more but have been putting it off? Tell HR that from next month on, they should send 8% of your salary to a separate savings/investment account.

You get the point. COMMIT to something now that you'll force your hand.

  1. Text or call the 5 to 10 people you are closest to and tell them exactly what to do. And I know it's 2023, but even better when you can get some face to face interaction with them to share your goals! Oldskool, I know ;)

  2. For my curiosity: Let me know in the comments what goal you're working on and how you will be using precommitment to overcome procrastination and achieve that goal.

Looking forward to hearing from you! :)

As always, if you find this video helpful, please give it a thumbs up and share it with someone who might benefit from it. And if you haven't already, don't forget to subscribe to the channel for more content like this. I'm here to help you navigate life's challenges and achieve your goals.

Thanks for watching, and let's dive into the world of precommitment.

Ps. This is a shorter clip from one of my other videos, in particular my video on how to use Parkinson's Law to your advantage to get way better at time management and eliminate procrastination from your life!
