Hey Troublemakers!
We’re back in Cornwall, and we’ve just had the most productive few days!
Taking a moment to reflect on what we’ve accomplished so far this year, it’s actually quite impressive. There have been dozens of really big shows, the release of the Story Album and book, a successful cultural grant application, and new partnerships that are being built toward the future.
The good news is that we’re already seeing a lot of booking requests coming in for next year, which is a very positive sign at this early stage! We expect that to increase as we continue building.
And build we shall!
The past two days we’ve been in St Ives, intensely songwriting. Through the St Ives Land Trust, we secured an old church that has been converted into studios, and there we spent two full days diving deep into the new music.
We can safely say that we now have structures and musical motifs for nearly all of the songs that will be on the next record.
That’s a very positive development and something we’re quite proud of!
It also means that this entire novel and album continues to be deeply connected with southwest Cornwall (and Totnes in Devon, thanks to our darling friends Ali and Reg). There is something about this part of the world that seems to inspire us to create. So many of the earliest ideas behind Mnemorith were born here, and now we find ourselves returning to these same landscapes to build the next chapter.
We’ve got a big weekend coming up here in the UK, with festivals in Cornwall, Wales, and the Peak District, before we head into songwriting “Round 2” at George’s family home.
The hope is to have most of the repertoire sketched out by that point so we can begin making demos to send to Christoph Beyerlein and get everything prepared to record in November!
It’s all very exciting.
Starting next month, we’ll begin sharing much more about the next chapters of Mnemorith, the vision behind the story, the characters, and where this entire adventure is going.
Right now, we have “only” excitement to share.
But there is a lot of it. ❤️
