These great doodles by @atopy are a True reflection when it comes to modern day Social Media. In the world of Facebook ,as an example, it is actually really empty. It is filled with junk that holds no real value or meaning to me. Sure, it helps me keep tab on our friends and families movements however it adds no REAL value. There are only a few members there that mean something to me and add value to my life. If, for example, you're heading off from some airport somewhere, I REALLY DON'T CARE, unless you're my wife 😁
Basically all you're really doing at the moment is filling up your life with useless content where you could be filling up your life with REAL VALUE, both from a monetary as well as a personally fulfilling perspective. Just think about that for a moment. You scroll through your Facebook feed and every so often you come across something that might make you chuckle or tug at your heart strings a bit. Most of the time that something has merely been copied off of the internet and pasted into Facebook. You know, that sort of thing. You're mostly limited to being in contact with your contacts and the information you give and receive is based on that. You have re-established contact with some old school acquaintances with whom you have no intention of actually communicating with. You see people sharing all their magical moments that actually don't mean anything to you. Sure, there are some that you do enjoy however those are few and far between. It's superficial and it doesn't add true value to you as an individual. I'll be fair though. I still use the platform for adding photos, kind of as a backup of photo memories as well as to see what some of my peeps are up to. For the most part though, I'd rather invest my extra time into Steemit as opposed to filling someone else's pocket. As for looking at it from a business and fund raising perspective it still has its place. On Steemit though, I've seen charitable causes receiving superb support!! The community enjoys supporting those in need.
What makes the Steemit platform so different is you can actually REALLY choose what you want to see AND you can make some money out of it as well. You can earn money by commenting on posts you REALLY enjoy. You can make money by creating your own posts, like this one you're reading right now. You can choose exactly what you like, who you like and what you want to do!! THINK ABOUT THAT FOR A MOMENT.
So what am I saying? I'm simply saying that for me, personally, I don't want to be that person in the Facebook car. I'm not the person in that Facebook car!! Since I joined the Steemit Community I have found a new found passion!! I just love the way it works and makes me feel. It has turned me into the person in the Steemit car that's now singing along to loud music while driving!! Perhaps it can do the same for you too, I don't know. Only you can answer that question. In my opinion there are many different ways you can find joy on the Steemit platform. From blogging, chatting, commenting, learning and so much more. There is a place for everyone!!
Therefore, if you've come this far then there must be something in here that interests you. Whether it's this article, the doodles or just plain curiosity, that isn't important. What is important though is that from here you can take the next step and that step would be to click on the following link: https://steemit.com/welcome/@sndbox/welcome-to-steemit-an-introductory-guide-for-creatives. This is merely another article that has been created by someone else on Steemit and it gives you an easy to understand getting started breakdown. Alternatively you can just download the Steemit app and observe what's going on for a while. It's called Esteem and you can download it from the Google Playstore.

2- Learn some basic HTML formatting in order to start blogging. Here is one I've been using. This is all you need to get started https://steemit.com/steemit/@thecryptofiend/markdown-basics-for-beginners. It's an old post but still very relevant :):)
3- Browse around a bit and see what the people get up to. Have a look at the different tags and see how the people introduce themselves as a guideline for yourself to introduce yourself.
4- Make some time to read through the FAQ. There is lots of extra information there which will prove useful.
5- Remember, there are bots on the platform as well. Some are good and some are not. Be aware of following a bad bot.
