Great drawing!
You can get some nice effects also when you wash over pencil or charcoal drawing with thin white acrylic paint. Not with broad strokes, but with a a smaller brush and targeted areas. The paint would pick up some of the drawing pigment and blend it.
There are also water-soluble pencils that can be used to create different effects and washes.
