Hey there,
wanted to make a quick post regarding @minnowbooster 's current voting calculation problems.
There are a few cases where the received up-vote value didn't equal the send SBD amount.
This mostly happened in the lower range - between 0.5 and 2 SBD, but also in the upper range where the actual received vote was around 7.25 SBD but the commented value by minnowbooster was around 8 SBD.
The reason for this is, that the current value calculation by steemit doesn't behave, as you would expect it to behave.
Normally in math when you round - you round to next lower/higher number - so for example:
1.1 rounds to 1
1.4 rounds to 1
1.5 rounds to 2
1.9 rounds to 2
But the steemit calculation behaves differently.
0.1 rounds to 1
1.1 rounds to 2
1.5 rounds also 2
1.9 rounds to 2
Let me explain this with a few images:
Take a look here at the small differences in the vote-weight field.
1% votes has the same value as 0.1%? Strange.
And 1.1% votes has suddenly double the value? Even stranger.
This is one of the reasons why we have problems calculating the right value for low SBD amounts.
MinnowBooster has so much SteemPower (for which everyone at MinnowBooster is extremely grateful for) but which makes it difficult to go to low values.
We will soon have a system in place where those problems will be fixed, but until then please keep in mind that we're doing our best to give you the best return in your investments!
And even now - MinnowBooster is still the one of the top-bots with the best return of investment - as you can time the upvote to hold up to 87.5% of your revenue from the MinnowBooster upvote.
Last but not least - keep also in mind that as the steem value and the reward balance/claims changes - the upvote value changes too and this can create a difference in comparison to what MinnowBooster comments under your post.
For example: if steem has a value of 1.4$ and you get an upvote from MinnowBooster - then we calculate the value at that time time. If steem drops to 1.2$ - the upvote value drops too, but the value on the comment/image under your posts stays the same.
If you have any questions - please ask them in the comments below.
I hope you have a great day!
Until next time,
Wolf
